Chester Marathon 2011
The second Chester Marathon. Run from Chester Race Course into the city, across the Dee at the old Dee Bridge, through Huntingdon and out into the Welsh countryside. Back into England over the Dee at Holt/Farndon then back into Chester and the finish at the race course, via Sandy Lane and The Groves.
First to cross the line with a good margin ahead of his fellow runners was Ben Fish of Blackburn Harriers witha time of 2:27:25. And with a time of 2:48:11 the first woman to finish the course was . Some 3,000 runners took part in the event.
Last years event was staged along the Greenway between Chester Rugby Club and Queensferry with 1000 competitors. Nest years marathon is set to take place on the 7th October.

Three groups of folk dancers descended on Chester on the 24th March 2012 for what was billed as the Chester Day of Dance.

Marking the launch of the annual Chester Food and Drink Festival. The Chester Cheese rolling competition was held in Bridge Street on a sunny February 21st.

That time of year again. A frenzy of post Christmas shopping frenzy. No shortage of people in the city centre despite the recession.
