The Rows
Chester's Rows are a unique feature of the city centre. Their origin is hotly disputed but a substantial part of what was once a more extensive doubled layered medieval shopping district survives. Some of it substantially remodelled during the 19th century Gothic architectural period.
There are some fine Georgian buildings and beneath it all architecture that has it's origins in the Roman and Medieval periods.
Chester Day of Dance
Three groups of folk dancers descended on Chester on the 24th March 2012 for what was billed as the Chester Day of Dance.
Cheese Rolling 2012
Marking the launch of the annual Chester Food and Drink Festival. The Chester Cheese rolling competition was held in Bridge Street on a sunny February 21st.
Chester January Sales 2012
That time of year again. A frenzy of post Christmas shopping frenzy. No shortage of people in the city centre despite the recession.
Winter Watch Parade 2011
The Winter Watch Parademakes it's annual pre-Christmas way around the streets of the city centre. Perhaps a little smaller than last years event.
The Cathedral
Chester Cathedral stands within the north eastern quarter. Much of the decoration dates from 19th century renovations. There has been a church on the site since the 10th century.
