HQ Building, Chester
Chester's new HQ building is built on the site of the former Cheshire Police Headquarters, overlooking the Racecourse and dominating the approach to Chester over the Grosvenor Bridge from the west. It is an interesting, predominantly glass circular high rise building that brings a shock of the new to the normally conservative historic city.
The newly formed Cheshire West and Chester Council is set to move, controversially, from their current abode in the old County Council Offices on the other side of the Castle, near the river, into part of the new development. The building is set to include a new 5 star hotel from Adobe Hotels, apartments, offices and 2 restaurants. One by the Michelin-star chef Michael Caines. A new public piazza will be created at it's centre.
The new HQ building, in such a dominant position, is set to be a flagship development for Chester. Built at a cost of £80million the building is set to be completed before the end of the year.
