The second day of Chester Races May Festival, The Boodles sponsored Lady's Day, got off to a damp start. The street vendors stalls on Foregate Street, approaching the city centre, had sprouted impressive displays of umberellas. Early arrivals could be seen walking up City road from the railway station in their race going finery. Many unprepared for the early and persistent rain.

Nevertheless the rain eased by the opening race at 1.45pm, The "Cordjia Renaissance Handicap". 60,000 racegoers are expected to attend the three day racing event. The first in the season at Chester Racecourse. Last years event was blessed with sunshine. This years a little overcast but no doubt many had an enjoyable experience.
